Deep drawing dies or forming pads can be made of magnesium, aluminum, or zinc alloys. The pads can be made of steel mesh reinforced concrete. The deep drawing temperature can be as high as 230°C. If the temperature is >230°C, cast iron forming pads are preferred. Do not use a serrated gripper to hold the workpiece in order to prevent tearing of the workpiece. For this purpose, a coarse sandpaper or emery cloth may be placed between the chuck and the workpiece.
