Compared with lithium, magnesium has a wider range of access, and compared with lithium battery, a more mature battery technology, magnesium batteries have other potential advantages. First, magnesium can release two electrons, which is twice that of lithium, which makes it possible to produce almost twice as much energy as lithium. Second, there is no growth of dendrites in the magnesium battery. This dendrite can easily cause short circuits, which can lead to overheating and even accidents. This feature makes magnesium batteries safer than lithium-ion batteries.
